Y10 InDesign & Photoshop

This resource was created to teach my Y10 students how to use Photoshop and InDesign to create an effective poster.

The teaching was done via a series of easy to follow videos. For the context the theme ‘precious pounamu’ was used and students were supplied with a range of public domain Maori patterns and three pieces of pounamu. The content in the resource was summarised from relevant wikipedia articles. The underlying aims were…

  • To support students as they acquired skills in the use of both Photoshop and InDesign
  • To help students become effective designers
  • To show students how to honour copyright by rewording material and citing the source.

This topic was chosen as it was an easy way to incorporate biculturalism into the classroom. Students responded well to the material and enjoyed choosing suitable patterns and laying out the information.
