Professional Reading: Cognitive Load (T3W2)

Article
An introduction to cognitive load theory

Reflection

The article above matched my understanding of how my students might learn and underscored the importance of explicit teaching followed by practice and then revision. This mirrors the structure of a typical lesson in ‘Digital as students are explicitly taught via tutorial videos and they then have the opportunity to practice / implement the material that has been taught. Subsequent lessons often require students to revisit / recycle their learning from a previous tutorial.

The work is broken down into small bite size chunks to try and prevent cognitive overload. Thus far the strategy is working well for most students.
